Sue knew Yolanda before she became her mentor. Before changing careers, Sue had been a social worker, serving as case manager at CROSSROADS, Community Partnership for Youth, Inc. "Yolanda had been on the waiting list so when I left my job, and there was no longer a conflict of interest, I told Donna, the program coordinator at CROSSROADS, that I wanted to be a mentor to Yolanda," says Sue. "I felt a strong connection to her. She was a sweet kid and I knew that her mother had left."
